* One 9 foot surfboard
* 4 suitcases
* 1 longboard skateboard
* 1 guitar
* 1 cooler, food, inflatable mattresses and other small things
* All of us.
That's enough isn't it. I've come to the conclusion that you can carry just about as much as you want with the right planning. I've come to the conclusion that people that drive minivans lack creativity and imagination (die you mini-van scum!) due to all the extra time on their hands. Gotta go, I've gotta get back to re-arranging my last packing job; I forgot a bag of chips I need to shove in somewhere.

An interesting note in mileage. When we drove to Colorado from Austin we were caravaning with the Holloway crew. We had similar loads (2 adults, 2 kids, similar baggage) and they were driving an AWD Toyota Sienna mini-van. They were getting about 20mpg while we were getting about 23mpg. The Toyota is pretty good considering it weighs about 4300lbs and the Subaru Outback weighs about 3000.
